Anonymous Donor Pledges $25,000 Matching Gift

(A note from Kent McNish concerning a God-sent gift to the Golden Cross Foundation)

I have served as executive director of the Golden Cross Foundation (GCF) since its beginning in May 2013. The foundation exists to provide grants to Tennessee Conference congregations in support of older adult ministries through:

  • Food security
  • Transportation
  • Affordable healthcare
  • Affordable housing
  • Church accessibility for older adults
  • Spiritual nurture and growth

The foundation also funds ENCORE Ministry, established to create and expand older adult ministries by providing local church leaders with free:

  • Consultation
  • Resources
  • Training and support
  • Networking opportunities

One of my favorite ministries receiving a foundation grant is Centertown UMC’s food ministry in McMinnville, Tennessee. Visit https://goldencrossfoundation.org/who-we-are/our-impact/ to view a brief video highlighting this inspiring ministry.

Since 2014, GCF has provided grants to more than 80 congregations with grants totaling more than $600,000. Yes, it takes considerable funds to do God’s inspiring work with older adults! To be effective, the foundation relies on the support of generous individuals and United Methodist churches.

Currently, we are working to raise $25,000 to match a gift made by an anonymous donor. By matching the donor’s gift, we can further increase our support to United Methodist clergy, leaders, and laity doing wonderful work with older adults.

Through the anonymous donor’s gift, your gift of $25 doubles to $50; $100 doubles to $200, etc. To give securely online, visit https://goldencrossfoundation.kindful.com/. You may also contribute by mailing a check to:

Your support is critical to the reaching our goal and we will keep you updated regarding our progress. Please contact me at kmcnish44@gmail.com or by phone or text at 615-479-6175 if you have any questions about giving to make a difference in the lives of older adults across Middle Tennessee.

Remember every gift will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000. Thank you for supporting older adult ministry in the Tennessee Conference.

P.S. We look forward to serving older adults in the Tennessee-Western Kentucky Conference beginning January 1, 2022.
