Martin Methodist receives Golden Cross Foundation Grant

Martin Methodist CollegeMartin Methodist College (MMC) was awarded a $93,000 grant from the Golden Cross Foundation.

The grant will fund a rural health initiative where MMC nursing faculty and nursing students will take health care to the rural, elderly members of the United Methodist churches and provide various intervention services. The objectives of this program are to develop healthier communities, improve residents’ health literacy and navigation for health care needs, develop trust, and improve health communication. ENCORE Ministries is a new, valuable resource that is now available in the Tennessee Conference to help congregations meet the needs of the fastest growing demographic group in our conference.  And, because this ministry is funded by a grant from the Golden Cross Foundation, there is no cost to congregations for its service.

Our world is getting older.  And it’s getting older fast.  An age revolution is taking place in our nation where thousands of people each day are entering their “retirement years” and the “3rd Age” of life.
